Yesterday as I viewed a discussion about voter ID on MSNBC’s “Now with Alex Wagner,” I took this screenshot.
The map became obsolete within hours when Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett signed into law HB 934, sponsored by ALEC devotee Rep. Daryl Metcalfe.
Corbett made a tacit admission that voter ID is a solution in search of a problem:
The point of this is a law of prevention. It’s to prevent voter fraud. And I believe it needs to be prevented.
A “law of prevention” is voter suppression by voter ID. Corbett will claim the absence of any evidence of voter impersonation is evidence the law is working.
For months, I have been sounding a wake-up call that we have to stop talking about the problem and do something about it. The Cost of Freedom Project is developing solutions to help voters without an acceptable form of photo ID get ready to vote in November.
I guess the talkers are waiting for someone to draw them a map.
