The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports the unemployment rate in June edged up to 9.2 percent, from 9.1 percent in May. Private employers created only new 18,000 jobs.
Like a broken record, the black unemployment rate is twice that of whites: 16.2 percent compared to 8.1 percent. Black youth unemployment is 39.9 percent.
I don’t have anything new to say about the jobless crisis in African American communities. Sadly, this image captured by my Facebook friend Deborah White says it all.
It’s a new report, but it’s the same old song.
