It's a leap year. Perhaps that explains Hillary Clinton's leap of faith that Harold Ickes can help her round up superdelegates.
This is the same Ickes (rhymes with icky) who told Democratic donors that if they gave him tens of millions of dollars, he would get John Kerry elected president. Ickes got the money. Kerry got to stay in the Senate.
In the 2004 election cycle, Ickes siphoned resources from black voter empowerment groups that were responsible for closing the racial gap in voter registration and turnout. He and the equally odious Steve Rosenthal set up 527 groups and big pimped black voters.
So, I was surprised to read that Hillary tapped Ickes to brief members of the Congressional Black Caucus to "make sure that everybody was hanging in there."
Hmmm. Sounds like Benjamin Franklin's warning to members of the Continental Congress to hang together lest they all hang separately.
