It’s September so it’s time to head down to DC for the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s 36th Annual Legislative Conference.
At today’s opening press conference, the Congressional Black Caucus and CBCF (the ALC is sponsored by the foundation) will unveil AVOICE (African American Voices in Congress), an "online library of African-American legislative and political history that is the result of a collaboration between the CBCF and Dell." The repository will include never-before-seen documents and photos of CBC founding members, including Adam Clayton Powell Jr. and my former congresswoman, Shirley Chisholm.
I’ve been attending “the CBC” since 19 I was a student so the thrill is gone. Still, I’m energized by the growing prospect that Republicans will lose control of the House (here and here). If that happens, the Bush error will be over.
With Rep. Charlie Rangel at the helm of the Ways and Means Committee, President Bush can forget about permanent tax cuts for the rich.
And they will be dancing in the street if Rep. John Conyers Jr. becomes chairman of the Judiciary Committee.
