The bus is coming. The Hip Hop Caucus and the Gulf Coast Renewal Campaign have joined forces to organize a march to demand permanent housing for Hurricane Katrina survivors and passage of the Congressional Black Caucus’ Katrina bill (and here).
As many as 500 survivors are expected to travel from Louisiana, Georgia, New York, and other states to protest the hotel evictions scheduled for March 15. Their message: “Enough is enough.” Rumor has it that Sob Sister Anderson Cooper, who rode the Katrina wave to a CNN primetime anchor slot, will also be on the bus.
The Mardi Gras-style march to the White House kicks off today at 1:30 p.m. Marchers will hold a vigil in Lafayette Square Park until midnight. For more info, click here.
