The House Select Committee's report on Hurricane Katrina is available here. At the urging of Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, Democrats boycotted the committee out of concern of a "partisan whitewash." Two Democrats -- Louisiana Reps. Charlie Melancon and William Jefferson -- participated informally in the committee’s proceedings. Melancon and Jefferson’s “additional views” are available here.
The Congressional Black Caucus said the "federal government failed miserably in preparation for and response to Hurricane Katrina." Florida Rep. Corrine Brown said in a statement:
There is no question that the Bush Administration failed in its response to Hurricane Katrina. The sad thing is that it continues to fail the victims of Hurricane Katrina today."
The report of the biggest government failure in history will likely bring a tear to your eye. But after you dry your eyes, do something. BTW, you can purchase a printed copy of the report from the Government Printing Office's online bookstore in April.
