It was hotter than hell in Washington last week when Republicans stormed off the House floor to protest an alleged "stolen vote."
House Republican Leader John Boehner’s allegation of "vote fraud" is rather ironic given Republicans’ indifference to the widespread voting irregularities and 175,000 uncounted ballots in Florida alone in the 2000 presidential election. And don't get me started on the 2004 and 2006 elections.
It’ll be a lot cooler at today’s public forum on the state of citizen journalism, which will kick off the Journalism That Matters conference organized by the Media Giraffe Project.
I will join a panel of experts in an interactive discussion of how citizen journalism is changing the political and media landscape. The panelists include:
- Merrill Brown, chairman, NowPublic.com
- Dan Gillmor, founder, Center for Citizen Media
- Jay Rosen, founder, NewAssignment.net and Off The Bus
- Jan Schaffer, executive director, J-Lab: The Institute for Interactive Journalism
The forum will be held from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Jack Morton Auditorium in the Media and Public Affairs Building at the George Washington University. The event is free and open to the public.
